Microsoft has issued a Surface Pro 2 update to fix glitches introduced by a December firmware release whci hwas later pulled by Microsoft, but not before some users had downloaded it.
“This weekend we released an update that addresses the unexpected wake and battery drain behavior experienced by a small number of Surface Pro 2 customers who installed the December Windows Update,” according to a statement sent by Microsoft’s public relations firm, Waggener Edstrom Communications. “This should have no impact on customers who had not received the December update.”
Because updates are cumulative, when you install the latest update, you’ll also get all the previous updates if your Surface doesn’t have them already. Only updates that apply to Surface will be downloaded and installed.
You can also manually install updates:
Step 1: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and then tap or click Settings.
(If you’re using a mouse, point to upper-right corner of screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
Step 2: Tap or click Change PC settings, and then tap or click Update and recovery.
Step 3: Tap or click Check now.
Step 4: If there are updates available, tap or click View details.
Step 5: Tap or click to select the updates you want to install, and then tap or click Install.
