iPhone BBM Users:

1. Get notifications using Banners or Alerts

When you first open BBM on your iPhone, you will be asked if BBM is allowed to send you push notifications. In case you missed this then just follow the steps to set it up.

1. On your iPhone, tap Settings, followed by Notification Center
2. Scroll down and select BBM
3. To enable alerts as per the screenshots above, select Banner or Alerts
4. To enable sound notifications, turn on Sounds
5. To show alerts on your lock screen, turn on Show on Lock Screen

 

 

2. iPhone Emoji’s

For those using BBM on an iPhone, you can use Emoji’s provided by your device’s operating system on top of the built-in emoticons. To try this out on your iPhone, complete the following steps.

2. Select Keyboard, followed by Keyboards
3. Select Add New Keyboard
4. Select Emoji

 

 

3. Hide the keyboard action bar

The area of your screen used to display BBM chats might be small depending on your device and keyboard. Follow these steps:

3. Set the Show Action Bar With Keyboard switch to Off

To access the options contained on the action bar when it is hidden, tap anywhere within an active chat and the action bar options will appear along the bottom of your screen.

 

 

4. Display contacts in Grid or List

BBM contacts will appear in a grid layout by default, but you can optionally use a list layout. Here’s how:

5. Share your PIN Barcode

You can use this option to quickly share your PIN Barcode across your social networks. To share your PIN Barcode, complete the following steps:

2. Select your desired sharing method from the list that is displayed

 

 

Android BBM users:

1. Add contacts using NFC

If your device has NFC, you can tap your device with another NFC-enabled device to quickly add someone to your BBM contact list. Provided at least one person has BBM open and both devices have NFC turned on, simply bump the back of the devices together.

 

 

2. Swipe left to right to go back

Sliding finger left to right across a chat to takes you back a screen. Use this gesture to quickly leave a conversation and switch to another chat. For those using BBM on an Android device, this gesture and the BBM widget make a great combination.

3. Add and resize the BBM Widget

A new feature of BBM on Android is the BBM chat widget, which allows you to stay engaged in chats without having to open BBM. To use it, look for the BBM chat widget in the Apps page under the Widgets tab. You can resize the widget by tapping and holding it on your home screen and then adjusting the size with the resize bars.

4. Turn off the BBM for Android Connected Icon

Using BBM on an Android device? You can turn off the BBM connected icon so it no longer appears on your home screen status bar.

1. Open BBM
2. Tap bbm-pin-3dot followed by Settings
3. Set the BBM Connected Icon switch to Off

 

 

5. Create or join a BBM group

Plan events, track to-do lists, share pictures, and chat with up to 30 people in one group at the same time.

1. Open BBM and tap Groups
2. Tap bbm-pin-3dot and select Create New Group
3. Set a group image, name and description
4. Optionally set the Allow Members to Invite Others switch to Yes
5. Tap Save
